I'm completely down-to-earth!

Find your soul type
at kelly.moranweb.com.

You are the most in touch with knowledge. It's the tree of life from which you tap the sap. You know what you want and you know how to reasonably get it.

Virtues: You respect people with plans. When someone has their head on their shoulders, you know that they can see straightforward and keep their eyes on the mark. When it comes to looking at the future, you take a logical approach: what's within your ability? A fortunate attribute that you have is the ability to set a goal for yourself, higher than maybe you feel possible, but still keep yourself within reasonable bounds. You take the time to appreciate those surrounding you and they do appreciate you in return. Decision-making comes naturally to you when you take the time to consider each option. People only come to talk to you when they are looking for a logical, reasonable solution.

Aspirations: You have an idea of what you can do with your life, but you push it up a notch. You need a profession that you can enjoy, so work towards it. You want to live near your friends and family while being as far away as possible. You also want to settle down while working in excitement and variation.

Quirks: You don't appreciate drama queens and they don't appreciate you. When they need help, they won't seek you out because of your ability to see through their overly dramatic predicaments. You have leeway for humor, and sometimes love to participate in it, but when it becomes irrational behavior, others can count you out. Loud noises are bothersome, except when they come from you or your friends.

Factors: Reach for the sky! Don't decide to do something because you're merely good at it, but choose something you might like to do, despite whether you're sure you can master it or not. Don't only save room for a few empathetic friends, but open up to everyone.

Future: When looking for a job, if you work in all of your talents (logic, decision-making, planning, and definitely humor), you'll find yourself happy. Come to a compromise for location; live nearby your friends and take periodic vacations or live farther away and take frequent return trips.

(I'd actually say that much of this is fairly accurate. How odd. :))

i ordered a kite today. :)

and i want it to arrive RIGHT NOW!! (I'm so excited :))

my fingertips are all sore from playing the violin last night. i need to work on getting my calloused fingers back (I left a sonata on my music stand, to remind me).

today i am trying to learn some chords on the guitar (the humidity is still visibly hanging around, and it's cloudy and cooler so i can't go outside - might as well learn something while i'm stuck indoors :))

tomorrow though, is supposed to be a beach-weather kind of day. :)

(i was going to recommend this test to Christina Taylor, because there is a Marilyn Barbie, but I see she has taken it already! :))

i got a long stemmed rose at the store tonight (ryan picked it out for me)

i gave it a kiss and put it in an empty olive oil jar with warm water, adn it looks happy to be here. out in the fog it looked like it was glowing. :) I stuck it in ryan's nose because he is doing calculus homework and I thought he might need cheering up.

i heart my rose.

download "John Mayer - Real World" because it is pretty.

(Correction: I believe the song is called "No Such Thing")

This story on MSNBC is horrifyingly in need of a new editor, as well as a decent writer. This is so bad, it is both horrific and hysterical.

reading on the beach is a good activity. especially when there are just a few people there, so i'm not all alone but i'm mostly alone.

'twas fun. only now, i biked back and i got all hot, and i want to be there again so i can swim to cool off. :)

Checkthis out.

It's a story about Christopher Lee, but the part that gets me is this:

"In the past six months, he has appeared as the Osama bin Laden-like evil wizard in "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings"....."

can we say "propaganda"? CNN certainly can. If it is evil, it must be Osama-like, no matter how utterly random or foolish the comparison may be.

How Dumb Are We?
(take the test
here)

My results:
You got 9 right.

Genius! Sheer Genius! Oh wait, you missed one, didn't you? Never mind. Idiot.

Hee hee. :)

today
it is like a jungle outside.
it was yesterday too,
and we rode our bikes to the beach and there was actually steam rolling through the air, with little tendrils of it hitting our faces.
(we thought it was smoke, when we saw it, because it was drifting that way, but it was water vapor, it was like breathing in the shower)
standing at the edge of the ocean, we could see about 100 feet all around us
the rest was lost in the fog.
and there was a boy surfing, and he went out on the water and just lay on his board. he drifted out a little ways, and he dissapeared in the mist. i bet he couldn't see the beach either, and he was out there all alone in his little world of water and fog.

(:))

"Wait, I'm not a dictator!" you cry! Well lets look at the check list: Unelected? Check! Use wars and xenophobia to boost popularity? Check! Total control of the media so they never say a bad word against you? Check! Kill scores of innocent people to get what you want? Check! Do anything to get your hands on oil? Check! Face it, you're a dictator, and no amount of gloss will hide that fact… or the fact you look like a monkey!

What kind of ANGEL are you?

Quiz made by Angela

this test is dorky, but it's funny because the person who wrote it obviously doesn't quite have a solid grasp of English. :)

okay, while i am fond of the online test,

some of these are just Insane.

"find out what ferret-type you are"...yeah.

I'm Happy!

Which Kiss are You?

Which Kiss Are You?

i went to buy sunglasses, because i lost mine in the grocery store (sniffle)

and we looked and looked and i couldn't find any that fit or looked okay, becuase i have a small face. and so finally, i saw these ones that were a little smaller, and i tried those and they fit perfectly! and i looked at their display, and they are mary kate and ashley eyewear!!

i bought mary-kate and ashley sunglasses! *gasp*

but they do fit nicely, because they were made for preteen girls. :)

13:04:31) Al0929: last night i was deciding which frosting to use : milk chocolate or chocolate fudge, and i was like, 'hmm, which one should i use?' and my mom's like 'they're basically the same thing' and i look at the nutrition facts and go 'well, NO, mom, the chocolate fudge has 4% iron and the milk chocolate has 0% iron. should i go for the healthier one or the non-healthier one? heck, let's live on the edge.' and i open the milk chocolate one.

they always lie.

What Goddess Archetype are you?
You are Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. You govern a woman's enjoyment of love and beauty, sexuality, and you want to fufill both creative and procreative functions.

from a conversation on IRC today:

[13:09:58] IO^Warp: I AM GOING TO KILL THESE PEOPLE OUTSIDE MY WINDOW
[13:10:04] IO^Warp: WITH THEIR GODDAMN STUPID BLOWERS
[13:10:06] IO^Warp: KILL
[13:10:07] IO^Warp: THEY WILL DIE
[13:13:20] Ryan`: And people say violent video games make young people more violent.
[13:13:39] Ryan`: What utter nonsense.
[13:14:09] Ryan`) We should murder them all with chainsaws and hedge-trimmers and other implements of destruction.

i did a few of the questions from this, and then i got bored iwth it. so here it is. ;)

urrent Mood: mellow, baybee, mellow

Current Music: well, it's not playing at the moment, but the current songs sitting in a playlist are:

Daft Punk - Digital Love
Elvis Costello - When I was Cruel No. 2
Frank Sinatra - Luck Be a Lady
John Coltrane - Too Young to Go Steady
Jonny Lang - Lie to Me
Norah Jones - The Nearness of You

Current Taste: chocolate macademia coffee (1/2caf) and a peanut butter cookie :)

Current Hair: i just got it cut - so it's kind of bobbed and i'm dyeing it red again this afternoon

Current Clothes: footsie-covered pajama pants and my pink curious george t-shirt :)

Current Windows open: the one on the right in our bedroom ;)
Current Desktop Picture: Ginnifer Goodwin (she's Diane with the glasses on "Ed", for the uninitiated)

Current CD In Stereo: um...i don't know if there's anything in there. If there is, it's probably a mix.

Current Video In VCR or DVD: HA HA - I FOOLED YOU - no VCR or DVD player for us! :)

there. now i want another cookie. :)

a note on someone else's opendiary:

I sympathize with your embarrassing moments.. :o)
When my fiance was in HS he once blurted out "Look! Deer! Bounding across the meadow!" He's only recently been able to show his face in town without the protective paper bag.

that just made me giggle. :)

(16:43:31) sarahmchinchilla: ah, i see
(16:43:43) halpal0807: yes yes, you see
(16:44:20) sarahmchinchilla: i see, said the old man, and he picked up his hammer and saw
(16:44:32) halpal0807: ?

(17:53:00) sarahmchinchilla: SUX
(17:53:26) sarahmchinchilla: but yeah :)
(17:53:55) lemongoddess83: haha, the ghetto-dom is progressing, it seems
(17:54:11) sarahmchinchilla: sux has nothing to do with ghetto, biotch
(17:54:32) sarahmchinchilla: you do not understand the essence of ghettoness

sometimes i swear the world is against us - ryan had class this morning, and then he was supposed to be at work a lilttle after ten. he normally signs on to IRC when he gets there, but he didn't show up and it's 11 o'clock. He just called, and said that when he went to start the car after class it wouldn't start. It turns out the starter engine has died, and AAA had to tow it to the nearest car place, where I guess it's being worked on. I have no idea how much this is going to cost, but I'll bet it's a whole lot, and now he's stuck at URI and has to call someone at work to come get him for the second time in two weeks.

:-/ maybe i'll call home and see if dad is there to guess as to how much this will cost. then at least i'll have a specific figure to worry about. ARGH!

my phone has rung just once and stopped. twice. it's starting to weird me out.

plus every time it rings, i jump a mile, because it's so loud! :)

COM346 - Social and Cultural Aspects of Media and New Technologies

PHI210 - Women and Moral Rights

are the two classes i've gotten into - so far. several more to go...

i noticed several people's blogs are showing up, so i checked status.blogger.com - it says blogspot had issues this morning and you guys all need to republish and then things should be fine (just in case you're going - huh? like i was :))

spent the morning at school, trying to make an appointment with an advisor. it turns out my department only has one, and he's chair of the department, so I have to email him and set something up. Meanwhile, I'm looking at the list of required classes, and it's giving me a headache. (I need a total of 120 credits. I have to take a certain number of COM courses, but no more than 51 credits. I need 2 courses in addition to COM206, but I can't use 216 to fufill that. I need 3 courses at the 300 level in addition to 306, and 3 at the 400 level (but there are 4 classes that won't fufill that requirement.) I need to fufill a couple of other random requirements, and then churn out enough electives to bring the credit total up to 120. 42 of all of those credits must be above the 300 level. I have taken French II, but it didn't transfer, and because I was terribly at French, I will have to persuade them to transfer it. And just to make things harder, all the COM classes are full, and they are most of what I will need to take, so I will have to go back to school and fill out over-ride forms to get in.

Always register for classes at the first possible second, if you can, folks. :)

I am 61-80% Ghetto

I AM ghetto. And you know this- MAN.

HA HA HA

:)

go here to see a really intelligent headline.

so actually, i'm not going to school until tomorrow. because tomorrow i would only have to stay there until 6 in the evening, not 10, and that's better. so i am home by myself all day. pffft.

Sunday, May 19, 2002

tomorrow i have to go to school and find an advisor and campaign my way into classes that are full.

i have to be there from 8 in the morning until 10 at night. what shall i do to keep myself entertained? This is 14 hours on campus we're talking about.

Things I Must Remember to Bring:

my student ID (so i can use the blessed computer lab)
a book or two
perhaps a notebook
something for lunch
money for dinner (pita cafe, i think!)
my backpack, in which to carry all this stuff
camera, to amuse myself with?

Which Woman of Beauty Are You? Find out! By Nishi.

You are an Ocean Beauty!
Like the ocean itself,
You are deep, complex, ever-changing,
Turbulent and chaotic,
Yet also calm and peaceful.

these women all look like they're from the cover of a romance novel or something. :)

sophie,

it rained last night, and all morning,

and i woke up in the night and listened to it for a while, dripping from the gutters,

and i thought of you.

i got a kiss for mother's day yesterday, because i am a Future Mother. :)

i also got to go to church with my parents, and hear the bumbling deacon pronounce my grandmother's name incorrectly at her memorial Mass, just like they do every year.

f I caught the world in a bottle
And everything was still beneath the moon
Without your love would it shine for me?
If I was smart as Aristotle
And understood the rings around the moon
What would it all matter if you loved me?

Here in your arms where the world is impossibly still
With a million dreams to fulfill
And a matter of moments until the dancing ends
Here in your arms when everything seems to be clear
Not a solitary thing would I fear
Except when this moment comes near the dancing's end

If I caught the world in an hourglass
Saddled up the moon so we could ride
Until the stars grew dim, Until...

One day you’ll meet a stranger
And all the noise is silenced in the room
You’ll feel that you're close to some mystery
In the moonlight and everything shatters
You feel as if you’ve known her all your life
The world’s oldest lesson in history

Here in your arms where the world is impossibly still
With a million dreams to fulfill
And a matter of moments until the dancing ends
Here in your arms when everything seems to be clear
Not a solitary thing do I fear
Except when this moment comes near the dancing’s end

Oh, if I caught the world in an hourglass
Saddled up the moon and we would ride
Until the stars grew dim
Until the time that time stands still, Until... (Sting, "Until" )

and i think i was thirsty when i picked out my ice cream man ice cream - i got mint ice cream iwth brownie bits, and it was good but i wish i had picked almond joy or coffee. but it was fun to get ice cream in the rain, and kelly's kiddie cones are way big. :)

to carry people (ally) over:

i downloaded some music from commercials today that's really good. a small recommended music list:

J Ralph - One Million Miles Away
Daft Punk - One More Time
Daft Punk - Digital Love
Mirwais - Disco Science
Control Machete - Si Senor (you know the crazy legs Levi commercial? this is the music, baby)

hey, with the rest that i didn't identify - match 'em up with the commercials that used them. ;) (i'm such a nerd. ;))

i'll be in NY for the weekend, baby

so now i'm packing and thinking about making a CD and also making lunch (except we seem to have run out of food :)) and bringing my camera so i can take pictures of a hot girl in a princess dress at a certain grand march. ;)

it's going to be colder there than it will be here - all i have to say about that is:

aw, stink.

;)

thank you so much sophie, for sting's "until" in it's entirety! *grin*

[14:49:28] (Ryan`) I think we shouldn't count our alien babies before they burst forth from Sigourney Weaver's chest, IYKWIM.

hee hee! i used to have so many my little ponies. :)

ally,

i laughed my head off, picturing a group of you all staring open-mouthed at the computer screen. i think i should post some more. ;)

recommended songs (even if it is really kinda too late):

or otherwise entitled Songs I Listen to a Lot Right Now:
cher - Song for the Lonely (yeah, i know :))
bonnie raitt - papa come quick
dirty vegas - days go by (or the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse remix, as heard in the commercial where the girl with the hat does the dance in the car at night :))
Quincy Jones - Austin Powers Theme
Semisonic - FNT (it's in a bacardi commercial on TV)

I want Sting's "Until" but I cannot find it in it's entirety anywhere. *sigh* that sting, he's so sexy. :)

Wednesday, May 08, 2002

i downloaded a bunch of franz liszt. i also added one of those compilations of his music to my wishlist on amazon.com...it's so peaceful. it's piano music, very dreamy, and ryan played it for me while i fell asleep the other night. it was perfect. i bet most of you would recognize "Dream of Love" if you heard it, but at any rate, it's so pretty, and so is "Forest Murmurs" (also known by it's long, unspellable german name).

i am listening to it right now, just to cultivate my ethereal mood.

09:00:32) sarahmchinchilla: so - today is may day - did you guys get anne marie may baskets?

that big picture of the magnolia tree messes up my blog so everything is all stretched out. i apologize for the weirdness. :)

dear sophie,

i like to say your name. it sounds so soft and nice. :)

please do come over next time it rains. i'd love that. and ally, you too. we can sit by the screen door with tea and listen to the rain on the deck, or play scrabble on the bed with pillows to lean on. :)

it is sunny today though, and we just got back from seeing spiderman and now i am eating strawberries, and life is good. come visit on a sunny day, too.

:)

Friday, May 03, 2002

going through old email in my storage hotmail account:

From Ryan:
"FIDDLESTICKS and ZAMBONIS, Sarah! I slept and missed you! I feel like a DINGLEBAT FOOL!" (I'm going to start using "fiddlesticks and zambonis" if only i can remember)

From Skippy:
"Well.....I see you've found me! It is true I have been in hiding since the "freak" microwave incident. I have also been creating my master plan to destory plastic dolls. My free time is consumed with dried fruits and shaved hamsters. I'm also a libra and my intrests include walks on the beach and romantic civil war rifles
see you at crandall"

Ryan saved this for me. It is someone's rules for love and marriage, even if I honestly don't remember where it is really from. :)

[21:55:10] also, marrie with a homme/femme which has conversation. When you will be old, your capacity to converse will be more significant than all the remainder.
[21:56:04] also, likes deeply and passioniment. You can leavethere wounded, but it is the only way of living the life
[21:56:37] also, remains promised in marriage 6 months at least before marrying you
[21:57:15] also, approaches the love and the kitchen with a certain abandonment bold
[21:58:31] also, seriously when you say " I am afflicted ", looks at the person in the eyes
[21:59:43] keeps nothing for a special occasion, each day that you screw is a special occasion.
[22:13:39] also, do not rely on a homme/femme which does not close the eyes when il/elle kisses you
[22:13:48] also, eats much brown rice

Thursday, May 02, 2002

dear sophie,

the rain is here too.
it was there when i woke up
like there was no difference
between night and day -
i feel so sleepy
and everything is muted.
when ryan gets home,
we will nap
because it's too rainy to be awake today.

in fact, here's my playlist:

James - Laid
Brandy - Sittin' Up In My Room
Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Outta My Head
Mary J. Blige - Family Affair
Sarah McLachlan - I Love You (BT Remix)
Bonnie Raitt - You
Bonnie Raitt - Papa Come Quick
Pheobe and the Pretenders - Smelly Cat ;)
Mozart - Violin Concerto No.4 in D
Shakira - Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker - Arabian Dance
Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker - Russian Dance
Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

So, here's what's weird - I've been addicted to classical music just these past few days, particularly the Tchaikovsky ballets. I've also been into Bonnie Raitt (and Jonny Lang too), and R&B. All at the same time. I'm having a classical-R&B-blues phase. :)
