check this out
In Honor of my Ice Cream Shop Days

I have to agree with this guy. I've never understood sprinkles except as decor. I don't think they taste like anything. Pineapple topping is another one i don't get. People never ordered it at Bill's, except that one nutjob who came weekly wanting a banana split with cotton candy ice cream and only the pineapple sauce. *shudder*

i miss working at bill's. correction: i miss working with ice cream. I hated bill. especially since i was way too clumsy to work with him, as he had a dangerous temper and i spilled the milkshakes one too many times. :) but the little overwrought hyperactive mood-swinging alcoholic aside ;) the job was so much fun. i think making swirly ice cream cones is akin to art...it's sort of the same gleeful feeling as making mud pies or something. and even though it was so hot and busy i sort of miss that feeling of being so busy it was nearly impossible (except, once again, minus the fear of dangerously unstable boss)

god, i was a mess at that job, though.

i'm lonely

it's rainy

and the wind is so strong it threw branches on the deck again, making big scary noises.

i'm hiding in my fuzzy sweater and my pajama pants.

food ingested by sarahmarie today so far:

grape juice
linguine with butter, lemon juice, salt and pepper
burrito (beans, salsa and cheese)
two squares of a symphony bar
one carrot with dilly dip

i still feel nibbly.

IRC is just a hotbed of intellectual activity.

I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Bard Mage

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently conccern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Secondary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

"I'm clumsy sometimes. I wish I could tell you that I was inebriated because it would give me an excuse, but I never drink and play."~Tori Amos

Lo Fidelity Allstars - "Feel What I Feel". Rocks my socks.

I'm enjoying most of the new album, actually (Ryan downloaded it yesterday).

We made strawberry shortcake last night. So there is whipped cream left (of the homeade variety) and I made hot chocolate this morning and put whipped cream in it and it's sickeningly rich and sweet but it tastes like good days with my mom where she would make us hot chocolate when we came in from playing in the snow and we made some for the mailman too, and he called us angels.

:)

everybody should go download "Oceanic" by Bond. They are way cool - all girls who play strings and their music is all orchestral and techno-ey and this song is just so pretty.

Also, I too recommend "Video" by india arie.

because it's way groovy (thanks, allybaby)

What is YOUR Highschool label?

say it loud, bay-bee.

smartie conversation hearts are the yummiest kind. (peach gummy hearts are also good)

and one more. This one is another of the pictures i took in that little bit of light. and it's not as cool, but i like it - even if i do look really sad. :)

That's my new favorite t-shirt. it's all.... strawberry :) and it has sparkles. i was wearing it when i met baby jackson, and he kept touching the sparkles. :) i feel so cute wearing it. *grin* it reminds me of strawberry shortcake dolls.

This house is at the end of the road, right before the beach. And yeah, it's really cheesy looking.

But we think it looks like Jimmy Buffett's New England hangout. Doesn't it just scream Jimmy Buffett? :)

Not so much in the winter, because he's a warm weather man. But wow. :)

My new smurf name is Futzy Smurf. Yeah, baby. ;)

darn. humans are boring.

made bread dough and it's rising

and my hands feel all strong from kneading and i smell good and wholesome like rising bread dough does.

Tuesday, February 19, 2002

Why is it that suddenly I have an intense craving for just about every fatty food I can get my hands on? Maybe I've lost weight or something. I don't feel like I have (sometimes I wish we had a scale)

but it's all chocolate and microwave popcorn and cheese and ice cream and cookies and i don't usually feel like that. it's funny.

jolly rancher gummies. were my treat to myself this week at the grocery store. and they make my mouth smile. :)

(my mouth is the thing that always does the smiling, i suppose)

"Fill Her Up" by Sting...is a cool song. Because it's all almost country-esque but in an artful way. Then it turns into sounding like gospel...and it's just cool.

mmm...cherry.

Pretty tulips from Valentines Day. This is the Tulip Museum.

On command: (Ally, I'm your bitch)

5 things I like about me.

- That I am part of one of the best, strongest marriages (or just friendships, or relationships, or sets of people who like each other) on the planet. I like that about myself because while I am not the reason for that, I am part of it.

- I can honestly say I know myself, and I like myself generally. I think that's quite an accomplishment nowadays, too.

-my creativity (even if i'm not a great artist, i love taking pictures and painting pictures and using color and seeing and sharing the world)

- and even though it's sort of the same thing...my writing. i love to write, and i think i'm really good at using words.

- and yeah, my broad musical tastes too. music is so important to me, it's such a part of me, and i can't overlook that.

And yes Ally, I like my physical body too. But that's 6 things. :)

I changed that, because I think it feels better now.

Ryan, on using apple shampoo and the leftover strawberry conditioner:

"I have a fruit salad for a head."

I'm about to go take a shower and get a fruit salad for a head too. This apple suave shampoo smells like candy. I think i'm hungry. And yes, I have a strange craving for a donut. (We're about to take over the world).

"if we go grocery shopping and have a donut, the world will be ours to control."
- Ryan

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.

This is a dream a friend of Ryan's had. She posted it for all to read because of it's insane freakiness - it's really cool. I think it sounds like a Neil Gaiman story.

Read it for yourself.

Coolest thing I've read all day:

oh ghetto sarah,
you're the best ghetto sarah ever.
alyssa f [11:41 AM]

[13:15:15] what's happening is i've got DerivedClass::DerivedClass(): AbstractClass() { CreateWindowEx(...,this); } and then the windowproc callback is doing: WM_CREATE: wc->onCreate()
[13:15:43] apparently the virtual function table isn't set up until after the constructor finishes or something?

[13:16:48] railed: why don't you try moving abstractClass() out of the initializer list?
[13:16:52] does that make any difference?

This is from a conversation on IRC. I laughed when I read it because it might as well be written in ancient Mesopotamian.

computer's back up. sort of.

but we have no sound, so i spend tomorrow musicless. ( iguess i could use the actual CD player, but imagine...no versatile, varied playlisting tomorrow!)

siiigh. laundry's done though, and grocery shopping - whoop whoop!

Operation Total System Overhaul (Operation TSO) goes into effect this afternoon. Do not be alarmed at my overwhelming absence from IM, blogs, and OD...this is *not* an emergency, repeat *not* an emergency.

First off, laundry day. Boy oh boy, am I psyched. :P

In my past life, I was a

Monkey

Don't go bananas — in your former life you were a tiny monkey named Oompa. Here's what we know about you: Adorably sweet demeanor and sharp as a tack, you found success working with a street performer named Juan, who worshipped you and treated you like his own child. He bought you a gold satin jumpsuit with royal blue ruffles, a matching top hat, and a sequined bag for donations. He would play your favorite disco tunes on his accordion, prompting you to dance around and flirt with the crowd while you collected spare change and picked pockets. Everybody loved you. And you loved everybody. You and Juan took your gig around the country and raked in the riches. You were one happy little monkey.

Find out your past life story.

Whoa again. :)

i want those purple shimmer docs. like, a lot. they're just gorgeous, and i would feel like a character in a block novel, or tori amos, or a fairy.

i'm hungry, but i can't find anything i want to eat. you might say that means i;m not hungry enough, but i really am good and hungry...there;s just nothing inspiring me yet.

but chili for lunch, ally. ;)

Purple Shimmer

I'm the purple shimmer Doc Marten...
I'm a little spunky, definitely fun,
and I like believing in fantasy

Which Doc Marten are you?
(by *coffeebean*)

i like my nice fuzzy sweater even when it prickles a little

my head is floaty and i feel shaky and sleepy but i slept enough last night (maybe hannibal's still chasing me)

last night i dreamed about being in NY and kelly and raina wanted to come back to RI with us and spend the night and have us drive them back...i was worried because i remembered that the floor needs vaccuuming and the dishes weren't done and i didn't want them to come to my dirty apartment (but it wasn't a small thing, in the dream, i was almost *afraid* to have them there if I hadn't been back first).

did i mention i'm addicted to the indigo girls "least complicated" lately?

Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl (reminds me of 12-year-old Kelly)
Tom Jones - Burning Down the House
Austin Powers - Dr. Evil - Just the Two of Us :)
Ani - Wishin' and Hopin'

mm-hmm.

I took this yesterday while playing with Ryan's camera, and i think it's pretty cool. More will be coming tomorrow (I plan on playing with the camera more this afternoon. Whoo. :))

Wednesday, February 06, 2002

This is a big picture, so I won't put it up here, but go see it because it's really cool.

I may have put it up somewhere else before, but it warrants showing it again. :) shawn took it whilst we were camping a year or two ago, and it's wicked neato.

The Jenga Museum

See Ryan's Stonehenge? My monkey there, his name is Cheeks and he has a rainbow butt. ;) And now he has a chair, too. :)

I saw this jug sitting on the table as the sun was setting outside the window, and it made the jug light up all cool.

and the camera turned it a bit murky, but i think it still looks cool.

:)

(20:46:35) sarahmchinchilla: how art thou?

(20:49:23) EQUUSgrl1418: dost thou doubt me?
(20:49:31) sarahmchinchilla: hee, never, fair lady

whoa.

dream:

ithis is the first dream i've had that took place here in my apartment.

i was babysitting two baby boys, and i was angry with them and one was getting all dirty outside. and then a social worker was coming, so i cleaned him up and started playing with him and then i loved him, but the social worker arrived and turned out to be hannibal lechter.
and he scared us but he went away, but we were still afraid because we knew he would eventually come back.
while he was gone, there was something about bike ridling with kelly and ahouse with a curved wall outside, but i don't really remember that part.

then hannibal came back, and he took the baby outside and told us to get ready to go with him. but first he sent in this...big blue guy, and he made a blue dress for me with a necklace with a very very fine chain and a shooting star on the end. and they made a dress for ryan too, which in the dream was perfectly natural - his was yellow, with a sun necklace. so we got ready to go, and i tried to turn the TV off and it wouldn't turn off, and i wrote a letter to our families in case we never came back, and it was really sad.
but as we were going outside, i realized the dresses we were wearing were magical, and because of them, we could get away. and then i woke up.

i woke up feeling tired from dreaming. :)

Olsen Twins versus Michael Jackson: Who Will Be the Most Insane?

You are 41% GAY!

That's gayer than average for someone of your gender and supposed orientation. The typical straight female is only 32% gay!

Here's how you compare:

people less gay than you (83%)
people just as gay as you (1%)
people gayer than you (15%)

How Gay Are You?

Bells for Her (Tori Amos)

Ally, after I quoted it at you I just wanted to see the words whole.

And through the life force and there goes her friend
On her Nishiki it's out of time
And through the portal they can make amends

Hey would you say whatever we're blanket friends
Can't stop what's coming
Can't stop what's on its way

And through the walls they made their mudpies
I've got your mind I said
She said I've your voice
I said you don't need my voice girl
You have your own
But you never thought it was enough of
So they went years and years
Like sisters blanket girls
Always there through that and this
There's nothing we cannot ever fix I said

Can't stop what's coming
Can't stop what's on its way
Bells and footfalls and soldiers and dolls
Brothers and lovers she and I were
Now she seems to be sand under his shoes
There's nothing I can do
Can't stop what's coming
Can't stop what's on its way

And now I speak to you are you in there
You have her face and her eyes
But you are not her
And we go at each other like blank ettes
Who can't find their thread and their bare

Can't stop loving
Can't stop what is on its way
And I see it coming
And it's on its way
