Shawn (and Meg), who wins today's award for coolest brother-in-law, bought me an ice cream maker from amazon.com from my birthday!!! (it was on my wishlist, see, and on sale today!)

So like, when it arrives, I think all my friends everywhere should come here for a giant homemade ice cream birthday party. Once I figure out how to do it, i guess. :)

boy, do i like birthdays. :) and it isn't even here yet!

and lastly, on the amazon friday sale:

08:33:20) freebesm: yeah, www.amazon.com/fridaysale - I am shopping for pots + pans with the wedding money, and someone somewhere suggested I wait 'til Friday
(08:33:23) freebesm: so, here I am.
(08:33:58) sarahmchinchilla: whoa. hey, you could have your very own rechargable toothbrush! imagine!
(08:34:05) freebesm: hot diggity

This is pretty interesting. If you mouse over the pictures, you can see the original photo without airbrushing. It's pretty amazing how much of a different it makes.

I am reading the search strings for corknut.org. Interesting word searches that brought people to our site:

1 search for " what type of pizza do turkey like" (the pizza arbiter LJ toy is why we came up - is there a turkey pizza party going on somewhere? if so, we were probably little help in the planning.)

1 search for "nudity report once upon a time in mexico" (because of two of ryan's movie reviews :))

1 search for the inevitable, but strangely put "what does it look like when a cherry is pop" (cherry soda reviews)

:)

(In honor of Shawn, who preached to the choir this morning on political action :))

I assume most of you are aware of Howard Dean. For those of you who aren't: governor of Vermont, Democrat, raising money to run for president, pro-health care, pro-environment, voted for Civil Union legislation, and very pro-choice. He has a lot of good things to say about women's issues in general.

I know most of you reading are poor college students with no money. But if you can find a couple dollars to donate to the campaign, this would be a good place to put your money. To donate, go here:

http://www.deanforamerica.com/contributenow

If you really can't or don't want to donate, then make sure you vote in the primary (you need to be registered as a Democrat to do so. )

I really believe that you can't afford to avoid being political right now, because with Bush in office, a lot is at stake. I didn't know a lot about this stuff just a couple of years ago, but I think most of you know that now is the time to learn if you don't know, and do something about it.

This is really awesome. It features drawings by children inspired by listening to Radiohead - a band they do not recognize (or apparently, like at all). There is a 1000 foot ice cream cone. Check it out. :)

we went to providence today, and while we were on thayer street i stopped in to ask about my nostril piercings swelling issues. They suggested tea tree oil and a smaller gauge, so I got a new 20-gauge nostril screw with a sparkley pink stone. yay! I also got sunglasses to replace the ones I lost - these ones are 'chili pepper green'. :)

From here
no lines are drawn
From here
no lands are owned
13,000 and holding
swallowed
in the purring
of her Engines
tracking the Beakon
here
"is there a Signal there
on the other side"
on the other side?

what do you mean
side of what things?

and you said
and you did
and you said
you could find me
here and you said and you would
find me even in Death
and you said
and you said
You'd find me

But I can't see New York
as I'm circling down
through white cloud
falling out and
I know his lips
are warm
but I can't seem
to find my way out
my way out

I can't see New York
as I'm circling down
through white cloud
falling out and
I know his
lips are warm
but I can't
seem to find
my way out
my way out
of this hunting ground

From here
crystal meth
In metres of millions
In the end
all we have,
soul blueprint.
did we get lost in it
do we conduct a
search for this

"from the other side"
from the other side?
what do they mean
side of what things...

and you said
and you did
and you said
you would find me here
and you said that you would
find me even in death
and you said
and you said
You'd find me

But I can't see New York
as I'm circling down
through white cloud
falling out
and I know his lips
are warm
but I can't seem
To find my way out
my way out

I can't see New York
as I'm circling down
through white cloud
falling out
and I know your lips
are warm
but I can't seem
to find my way
my way out
of your hunting ground

you again
It's you again
I can't see
I can't see
New York
from the other side
from the other side

I Hum
from the
other side

(tori amos, i can't see new york)

Yeah, we all know about the whole thing, but I enjoyed reading this. :)

"While the RIAA would like to lump all P2P file sharers into the 18-30 year-old single/loner/hacker/cracker/pr0n monger/movie & music pirate demographic, the typical P2P user can come from all walks of life. The RIAA wants to scare people into thinking no-one is immune from prosecution...and that is he problem with the "gotta subpoena and sue them all" strategy...their lawsuits could be aimed at anyone. That person could be a 12-year old living in subsidized housing, a 71-year old grandfather, or maybe a 50 and 21-year old father-son combo.

Hoping to halt the quickly growing PR nightmare, the RIAA has quickly settled with the parents of the 12-year old girl for $2000. That is a far cry from the $150,000 per song they were seeking for "pirating" songs such as "If You're Happy and You Know It", and the theme from the TV show "Family Matters." Sensing a good time to strike while the coals are hot, Wayne Rosso, the president of Grokster decided to join in the fun offering to pay the family's $2000 fine from his own pocket.

But Rosso plans to step in and pay the fine. "I'm trying to contact the mother to offer to pay the $2,000 for her out of my own pocket. I'm disgusted by the RIAA and its extortion tactics," he told vnunet.com.

"I thought that the two Joes, McCarthy and Stalin, were dead. But little did I know that they're both alive and well and running the RIAA."

On the supposed list ( i am not sure of it's actual origins) of most sexually active dorms in the US, guess what came in first?

1 - University of Rhode Island: Barlow Hall

Yeah, baby. No wonder Speakeasy flies through the free condoms these days. ;)

Librarian pickup line #14566:

"Never mind the book. Can I just check *you* out?"

This image is available on cafepress on shirts, mugs, tote bags and more here if anyone's interested. Thanks to someone from LJForChoice for posting the link. :)

Ryan's computer has been running kind loudly, so he's been shutting it off when he leaves for work. Just now, I started hearing weird noises, and though he left his computer on.

He didn't. It's my computer. It sounds like a loose fan more than a drive, thank goodness, but two ailing computers = bad news. Meanwhile, my videocard has been dying slowly for months, and both our monitors are iffy. Someone give me lots of money, please. ;)

Be afraid, be very afraid. This, in case you couldn't tell, is a rabbit. There are more of these little gems here.

:)

This little blurb is about how a Georgia newspaper ran an *apology* for printing a *postage-stamp sized* picture of Britney and Madonna kissing at the VMAs on it's front page. That they needed tol run an apology for that is bad enough, but someone in the artlcle actually compares printing the picture to printing graphic images from the war in Iraq.

Okay, so you're telling me two women kissing is somehow as offensive and upsetting as pictures of people bleeding to death from horrible injuries in images of war?
