what would uncle jesse do?

and also, thanks to speakeasy giving stuff out to trainees, my bag is full of samples:

two different lubes
one strawberry-flavored dental dam
one female condom
2 Project AIDS RI pens

hee hee. :)

today in speakeasy, we were supposed to act out different kinds of healthy and unhealthy relationships, and in one scene, i played my classmate's girlfriend's lover :)

today we went to veek's fondue party in providence,
and had cheese and then chocolate fondue with david and stacey and of course, veek.
fondue is always a fun party. :)

this is such a fun song :)

this is my sexual revolution

everybody shake it
time to be free amongst yourselves
your mama told you to be discreet
and keep your freak to yourself
but your mama lied to you all this time
she knows as well as you and I
you've got to express what is taboo in you
and share your freak with the rest of us
cause it's a beautiful thang

this is my sexual revolution

everybody break it
every rule every constriction
my papa told me to be home by now
but my party has just begun
maybe he'll understand
that I got to be
to be the freak that god made me
so many thangz I want to try
got to do them before I die

this is my sexual revolution

I'm so funkin' beautiful
especially when I take my clothes off
I'm so funkin' beautiful
especially when I take my clothes off

sexual revolution

got to do them before I die
got to do them before I die

(macy gray, sexual revolution)

ps - the lyrics say funkin', really. :)

today was the grand opening of the dunkin' donuts/baskin robbins on campus, and i got free chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream. it made my day. :)

oh, in other notes for today:

II finished the evil antibiotics and I am one happy cookie. ;)

today is full of (mostly) fun things:

homework (not so fun, essay, retooling of survey, reading)
Target for a couple summery things for Florida that we need :)
AC Moore for whatever art supplies my little heart desires...and something Ryan needs too :)
Maybe the Olive Garden for dinner...we have a tradition with the Olive Garden, and I believe it is time for it. ;)

And tomorrow, we are meeting friends in Providence for lunch and we're going to see Adaptation at the Avon afterwards.

So, I guess I should be getting started with all that.

Wednesday, March 26, 2003

oh my god.

the antibiotics i'm taking are the single most disgusting tasting things in the world, and the taste doesn't go away. they also don't go down my throat easily, and tonight i coughed it out of my throat and had to take it smooshed up in yogurt.

two more days of two pills a day. i'm going to die of vile disgustingness!

I feel industrious!

In the past hour, I have:
gotten ready to go out
called my mom to give secret ryan's birthday gift advice ;)
finished a group assignment
drank a big glass of water
cleaned up my big pile of clothes in the bedroom

Now I am going to go work on my new collage idea for a while before class. :)

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

thanks for the hugs, rach - i would leave a note on your OD but OD is broken for me, so here we are. :)

i got my prescription for imitrex today, so that's good, i guess. i hope the acupuncture will help me because i don't want to have to take any more medecines!

the idea of this as people are doing it on LJ is to do it quickly, without thinking too much about it. you just write down the first 50 things that come into your head.

other people did 50 things they don't like. i've thought about that but it's so much more negative, and i like the happy feeling of making this happy list. :)

and i'm tired of round-the-clock war coverage and goddamn shock-and-awe

i check in, i want to know what's going on, and i won't shove my head in the sand. but at the same time it makes me tired to have a war i don't want shoved in my face all the time.

chumbawumba - jacob's ladder (not in my name)
john mellencamp - to washington
ani difranco - self evident
billy bregg - the price of oil
saul williams - not in my name (dk spooky remix)

heh. in the vein of themed playlists, something a little more....relevant.

"If we're an arrogant nation, they [foreigners] will resent us; if we're a humble nation, but strong, they'll welcome us."

-Then Gov. George W. Bush, 12 October 2000

I saw this on Brian's OD and I thought it was pretty funny. sad and funny.

one paper down, several to go...phew, post-spring-break homework madness!

the hotness that is ryan with his newly pierced ear! ;)

Wednesday, March 19, 2003

got on the bus to go home from providence and the driver turned up the radio so we could hear the announcement that the war has started, and i knew it would be tonight but it still made my throat tighten

i imagined Iraqi people, woken from their sleep by air raid sirens, and calming their children back to sleep as the world shakes around them

i look at the sky and i wonder what it must be like.

tomorrow i write:

an essay for psych of women
a term paper for women in the media on an episode of buffy :)
a non-fictional essay on the ocean for a english contest

now, i go to bed! mmmm, bed!

i was saying today that i thought i could fill an entire CD with self-esteemy, affirmative, girl-empowered, I-am-beautiful songs and i am having fun coming up with them. contributions anyone? here are a few i came up with.

TLC - Unpretty
India.Arie - Video
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
Alicia Keyes - A Woman's Worth
Dar Williams - As Cool As I Am
Britney - Stronger

i do not really need a self-esteem boost! i just thought it would be fun to make and it would also be a happy CD to listen to. :)

Tuesday, March 18, 2003

it's not as warm today, but it looks nice anyway, and yesterday when i was sitting here alone with my window open playing janet jackson and matchbox 20 in my new skirt, i got the warm, free feeling of almost-summer. i am tingling all over with it.

matchbox20 - angry
janet jackson - all for you
janet - someone to call my lover
matchbox20 - mercy mercy me
janet - together again

Oh you fool you fool
Don't give in to fate
If this is all we've got to fight for
Rage my darling, rage!
Duncan, good for you
Sad but on your way
Well the army never turned his crank
But love sure made him brave

This is holy war
We must fight and fight again
And go a thousand times for the sake of love
But never once in vain
(duncan, sarah slean)

Ryan bought the Sarah Slean album "Night Bugs" recently and it is really, really good.

"Weight" is really good, and so is "Duncan", and "Sweet Ones", and oh just download some. :)
